With these type of comments and questions,it leads me to believe that you would have no clue where to start or what to do to begin with.
Stick with a b series.

5 grand??? how do you figure when they are selling the motor swaps for 2600 now? I believe hasport or one of those mounting companies makes a mount kit for the K series. I have seen a K series in a couple EF hatches, so i know its possible. I hear the hardest part is the axles, because you have to use EP axles with GSR outer ends. Wiring and mounts are now hassle free. So probably for as much as youd pay for a type R swap you can have a K series.

yeah sorry i was just looking for this post, i was thinking k20, but the A is like 4600. Been looking on ebay. But think eric, if you could sell your swap for lets say 3500 dollars, turn around and buy a twice as powerful motor for 1000 dollars more.
