I have a 96 Honda Civic EX and ever since I got it it has not had much power after it warms up until I get to like 3500rpm++. I thought the time was off so I changed the belt, but it didnt help. I think I have a fuel problem but I don't know. If anyone could help it would be great. Thanks

That's the nature of a small displacement motor...no low end power. Is the car just slow, or does it stutter/run rough?

he says that it doesnt have much power when it warms up, so that being said im assuming that the car has been run hard before the motor has the time to warm up. now couldnt this pose a long term problem being that the oil is thicker when the car is cold.

any mods done to it all?
Could just need a mini me tune up.. sparkplugs, wires, fuel filter etc..Give some detail on the car so we can kind of get an idea of the condition of the motor. |

I still think he's just not used to a small displacement motor...they have no go until about 4000rpm...which is what he described. Now, if it's running rough, that's another story. Rough idle, misfiring, etc. He said it doesn't have much power AFTER it warms up, not while it warms up. If a car was run hard while it's cold, it CAN cause premature ring/bearing wear if it happened repeatedly.

Well I have owned like 2 other civic and the were not like this. this car just almost doesnt go at anything below 3000 rpm. The car like boggs down and in 5th the car will not go any faster then 60 unless u are doing more then 60 when u place it in 5th. So far I had a high flow cat and a high flow fuel pmp on. That is all. Oh and a cold air short ram.

You might be running rich thanks to that fuel pump.

The fuel pump was just a guess at why it is not running right. And the problem was worse before I changed it out. I mean it just boogs down bad. I have a cold air also. I mean what could it be??????

Whats your timing set at? Have you ever had any head work done? Valve leash? When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? Compression check? |
