i have found that tuning is all about how much $$ ur gonna spend. so save, and drop all your other cash sucking hobbies. (i had to stop buying pc and xbox games... )

i started with the cheap stuff, like a cat-back muffler and exhaust system (i got a magnaflow muffler and the catback is next week, total = 260$) and cold air intake (obx intake = 100$).

then save save save. cuz it only goes up from there. yeah, you can get body stuff, like bumpers and hoods, but i think that if you look sweet, but run like crap, you're only gonna get laughed off the track. body comes last. think of it like a sleeper

Consider as big an engine as you can grab. i'm looking at the b18c1 for my vx hatch. i found a couple, they average 3300$ for the engine, tranny, and motor mounts. that engine comes with about 180hp 126Trq 10.6 Compression, which is a big boost, compared to my stock 95hp.

Then there's Turbos & Intercoolers, fuel management systems, suspension, and wheels & tires.

Here's the link for the engine i'm looking at.

hmotorsonline.com

i've tried to find one in my local salvage yards (and was unable to), but then i'd have to clean it, rebuild it, and the money i save would be wasted in the time it took to clean the freakin thing.

*disclaimer*: i'm not advertising for any of the links i put in here, other than the hmotorsonline.com which i'm gonna get my engine from. the rest was googled to give whomever an example.

good luck, and have fun!!

just curious but why do u wanna go mini me swap. i recommend u seriously consider a B series swap. if ur looking for a long haul, do mods as i go motor i would really say go with a B series. nothing against the D, but when it comes down to it, with bolt ons B series motors make more power. and if u wanna go big, say turbo or supercharger, an LS motor is ideal. and for the price, u would only be spending slightly more on the B18B1. think about it. dont wanna regret stuff later

u might spend 200 bucks more for a better motor. ur car ur choice but im just trying to keep you from having to do something twice. that and ur not gonna make a lot of power from ur D without some serious mods. with some coaxing and some bolt ons(I/H/E, underdrive pulleys, cams, lighter fly, etc.) u can make 150+ with a B18B1. and being that ur car is lighter ur gonna see much better accel.

honestly you sound like the type of person that will be unhappy with a mini me swap you have too many expectations.

IMHO you should sit back again answer the questions asked here. http://www.civicland.com/forums/inde...showtopic=6673 and think about your long term goals.. it's retarded to waste money on a HEADER (no S) if your just gonna save and swap a bigger motor.. take yoru time, do the research do it right. one time.
