Go for the mini-me swap if that is what makes you happy. But these guys are just trying to warn you that it won't give you as much power as you think. Also your power potential is still somewhat limited down the road. My advice would be to stay away from the mini-me swap. Go with something like the 92-95 EX motor (D16z6), it's cheap and reliable. Just keep in mind the saying you can only have two out of the three when it comes to modding a car, cheap, fast or reliable.

you can buy a b20 or an ls for a few bucks more than 500 bucks look around maybe 600 bucks or so.. and you have a platform to expand on in the future if you want AND you have more power than your mini me

A full B20 swap for $600 is a steal, but I doubt you would ever find one under a grand.

a full B20 under 900bucks would be great but you cand def find a B18B1, full swap, for less than 800bucks.

By the sounds of it you want something simple with just a litte more "ummph"!

For your price range and simplicity, try to find an OBD1,grey plug DOHC Zc.
- Simple plug n play motor, drops right in,bolts right up and plugs right into your car.No bullshit!
- will bolt right up to ANY 92-00 d series tranny.
- 2 cams instead of 1,sure it is non vtec, but vtec is not everything!
-Cheap and simple swap

I have had one of these motors,it was in my 93 Dx hatch. To my pleasant surprise,it was a nice step up in power,no probs with it at all. It was reliable and somewhat quick, which is what it sounds like you are looking for.

werd! a zc is a nice inexpensive kick in the butt. Funny thing with them is 80% of them will woop a b16's ass. Downfall is their old motors so never really know what yoru getting.. but you never really know anytime you buy a used motor. Good thing about them is they take D series parts which are cheap as hell.
