120k is usually the change point... I think. Maybe it was 90k. Check your owner's manual!

It costs a few hundred bucks if you pay someone to do it. The timing belt on its own is around $100 (not sure, been a while) and the labor isn't exactly cheap either.
Ok, I just looked it up in my handy-dandy factory service manual. You're supposed to replace the timing belt every 90k miles, or every 60k miles "under severe driving conditions." |

No, the timing belt will not cause your check engine light to come on. There's no way that your ECU can look at the timing belt and check its condition. What you can do for now is pull your valve cover and take a look at the physical condition of the timing belt. If there's serious wear on the edges of the belt- like chunking or deformation of the teeth, it's definitely time to replace it. If the rubber still looks like it's been freshly molded and not worn down, you'll probably be ok for a little while longer.

The timing belt is not hard to do yourself,And if some one does it for you you should be able to find someone around 100-150$ if you buy the belt.I normally charge 75-100$. |
