ok my check engine light has recently lite up. my ride has 110K miles but the ride doesnt seem any different. I know i might need a timing belt change, but any ideas on what else might be causing this issue?

check the code. somewhere on CL theres a list to tell you what all the codes mean. it really could be a lot of things.

Yeah, and if you check this link:
http://www.redpepperracing.com/technical/96Civic-FSM you'll be able to find out how to get the code from your ecu... you can use a paperclip to short a connection in a harness under the glove box, and then the cel will blink a certain number of times to tell you the code... check that link, it gives you the step by step.
