Im turning 18 this dec 17th and want to get a civic.
i will have about 13 grand to spend, what civic should i get? i don't care what style or year(preferably 90-00)i've heard the si is good if you have the money but will i be able to find one easily(used of course) the first mods i will get will be the AEM v2 intake, a nice turbo setup and a high performance blow off valve if i can find a good one(i've heard HKS's SSQV blow off valves are good but i don't know if they have them for civics). will i have to do anything prior to the installation of the mod's like ecu tuning or something?. tips and suggestions are welcome |

To best optimize your money do this. (this is ideal and what i've done and what i think everyone should do).
1) buy a 92-95 hatch back if it doesnt' have a motor thats better (and cheaper) 2) buy another civic somewhere 92-00 as a daily driver get around car. Something you wont touch 3) buy a swap.. if you wanna turbo your cheapest platform to start from would be an ls (b18b1) or a b20. These are decent to turbo right off the bat. 4) dont buy intakes until you buy your turbo system you might not even need an intake like that |

first, you wouldn't need to pay insurance on both cars. build the other car until you can drive it. unless you really dont have shit to go anywhere then just go with one car.
Swapping is pretty much taking out the stock D series single overhead cam motor (max 115 hp) and dropping in a 140-200 hp DOHC motor. |

A 200 HP?? damn i didnt know civics had those, only honda shit i seen like that are the new accords and their sports cars.
what motor has the 200 horses? is it possible to buy just the motor and not a whole car? also what are some more usefull mods could i begin with? also if im not correct dont i have to build up the engine with new pistons and rings so it can handle higher horsepower? |

yup you can buy motors all day long.. tons of online stores the two most reliable are www.hmotorsonline.com and www.totaljdm.com
depending on the year and make of the motor 96-01 b18c5 (us motor type R) has just shy of 200 hp (to the fly wheel). The rsx type S i think has somewhere around 220 and 200 lbs torque? you can easily get a b16a2 (99-00 honda civic SI) motor (160hp) and do a little work and pull 200. all depends on: 1) your budget (now and down the road to maintain) 2) overall power goals |

you might have to spend more money to get that. think about it though, without the weight to hold the vehicle down too much power will do nothing for you.

if all you want is 200 hp then just get the car leave the stock motor in and turbo the stock motor. you need to be specific as to what you want yoru end goals to be you cant just say make my car fast tell me how.
what are your long term plans for the car? |
