this is an old topic but i have a new question to throw in here, couldnt realy find the answer anywhere else...

just got my car back after that whole hood-flying up thing...and i noticed my car idling at around 1-1,5 rpms which is higher than it was before...but thats not really a problem, right? and i dont care about..

but something i did notice that is weird is that when my car is in nuetral ( i often put it in nuetral so i dont have to hold the brake at lights, downhills, etc.) it actually revs up. starting at its idle point and it revs up to like 2,5 or so. what the hell is that all baout? is this a problem? what could it be from and so forth. i have an automatic tranny as im sure you have picked up on, just makin sure.

what you're describing is called a surging idle, and can be caused by about 500 different things. i just fixed mine, caused by a idle screw backing itself out combined with a bad iacv. when i fixed it, my throttle response improved greatly 'cuz there wasn't so much air rushing through the idle hole in the throttle body. so it's not just annoying, but can have an effect on performance.
