SimpleGreen are you talking about top of the line tubo here or average? Man once again I go back to the question why turbo a SOHC if your going to put that much money in why not do the engine swap and do it right.

Some other questions:
(Without building engine up, i.e. Stock engine)
1. What is the max psi you can put a 98 ex at, how much of a hp boost will this give. How hard is it on the engine?

2. What is the ideal, safe yet max performance psi you can boost a 98 ex, how much hp will this get you?

(With built up Engine)
3. What is the max psi you can put a 98 ex at, how much of a hp boost will this give. How hard is it on the engine?

4.What is the ideal, safe yet max performance psi you can boost a 98 ex, how much hp will this get you?

it's a misconception that the turbo is the most expensive part. Tuning building tweeking rebuilding is the exepensive part.

forget boost think in terms of horse power. how much horse power can your motor take with the things you've done to it before it blows.

a lot of your questions are hard to answer if i say 220 and you blow your motor at 210 then .. um that was the max lol

in my opinion your going about it the wrong way esp if your sentence has these words. "max performance" , "safe", "cost". You really have no clue what your getting into.

lot of people swear by the sohc turbo. but you're limiting yourself right off the bat. You'll pay just as much for a sohc turbo if you go hard core than you will to turbo a dohc and you'll get better gains from a dohc.

I guess I am just curious to what is the max and where it lies compared to what I want. Things get complicated in a hurry, guess i really dont know what I am getting into. I just want to add some power to my car. I dont want to spend over $5,000, and I would like to be above 200 hp. Is this even possible?

more than possible. Seems you expect a little too much though. There's no way you going to pay someone to install your turbo, rods pistons and buy all the parts for less than 5 grand. a good turbo system with front mount inner cooler will cost you 3500 or more. another 400 for rods another 400+ for pistons plus install. no way bro.

I will say this about you though. You are further a head than most are. The three main question you need to answer is 1) whats your budget (5k) 2) whats your end goal (200hp)

my personal oppinion. you can turbo your sohc with 5k on a decent turbo kit installed. thats all your gonna get. forget pistons forget rods forget a full standalone EMS. Tuning, install and parts your looking at 5k

here's someone on the site selling a kit. Smooth imports. I can vouch for the kit it's in great condition.

yes it will allow you to increase the amount of HP you produce. Again deff not cheap.

associated costs that goes with that. Machine shop time, product costs, rings, seals, new gaskets, install costs etc
