Man its an absolute maze trying to find rods, pistons, and sleeves. What is the none appreviated words for them, connecting rods, forged pistons? Where do you guys shop at maybe thats a good place to start. I was looking at a kit that claimed 200 hp at 8 psi, do you think that my stock engine could take that without the aftermarket engine components? Seems to me that pistons, sleeves, and rods are more expensive than the damn turbo.

dude.. we've said 4 times now litterally 200 on STOCK INTERNALS is probably a good bet. ON A TUNED MOTOR. you blowing up your shit dont cry to us that it could only handle 195 hp etc.
It's not a precise science man. go get a turbo. go get a fmic.. get it put on and TUNED get some dyno pulls monitor temps. If it blows up.. you paid the price for tangling with the devil.. then youcan buy a b series . Either way we cant tell you ti's gonna be good for 200 hp (nor can anyone else) go invest some money and try it out |

btw your going about this all wrong.
1) dont set a limit or minimum for HP/torque. 2) dont have a set budget |

omg you guys aint kiddin, I've been reading up lately being I wanted to go boost right out of the box with my project and after reading all I did I've come down to reality.
I wanted to obtain much more power than he wants.. but with the axles I'd need, all the internals I'd be upgrading and after the purchase of a stage 2 revhard I was already up over $9k.. A bit too rich for my blood at this point. Maybe I'll have a change of heart once I even get the motor in my car, but god this shit is expensive. |

[/quote] you dont need axles!!! everyone thinks its such a big deal...i went all weekend on stock axles..and a torn boot...its not worth spending the extra 600-1000 for axles if you dont have some things like: excessive hp, rediculous clutch set up, or really big slicks. |

Will I need sleeves, pistons, rods, if I do a engine swap? Am I playing the same risk game if I turbo a b16/b18 and go for around 300 hp, do they need the upgrades as well or are you safe?

Then if you are going to go turbo, it would be a good idea to swap, you would save money on sleeves, pistons, and rods, which are expensive, almost as expensive as the engine swap. Why on earth would you not just swap then?

Because it depends on how much boost you want in the first place. And how nazi-ish on keeping the d series.
it's like moving into an apartment when you have a wife and two kids. You're growing. You need the room but you signed up for a year least. Now your stuck with 200 hp and one cam. |
