Do you guys drive your civics in the winter? What steps do you prepare for to have a safe and relable car for the winter?

This will be the first year with my civic in the winter and I am wondering if I would be better off using my old beater Lumina. I have a body kit but have not lowered my car, do you think I will be safe if I stay out of deep snow. I will be taking off my low profiles and putting on winter tires on the stock rims. Another thing is that I have a cold air intake. Do you think I should remove this during winter, install a bypass or will I be fine. Also same question for rain, is cold air safe during rain or heavy rain or is it when it gets submerged that I need to worry.

What steps do you take if any?

i would put a bypass on the cai, just to be safe, but to be honest u wont have any problems. def get those wheels off tho lol. its safe during the rain for the cai, just as long as the filter is not sumberged. ull be fine, body kit may crack during the winter tho in the snow and cold weather.

The body kit is not carbon fiber it is that poly whatever, basicly rubber, I think it is the same stuff reg. bummbers and so forth are made of. Only thing is the carbon fiber wing, hope that will hold up. Good to hear that the intake will be fine, I think I will put the bypass on just to be safe.

i know that its basically the same as the stock stuff, but what im saying is its closer to the ground, and plastic in cold weather, plus snow, plus ice, plus close to the ground equals cracks, just my 2 cents

it's not my car i'm worried about losing control of in the winter, it's the other guys. with all-weather tires you'll be fine, but if you value your paint job, drive the lumina. fender benders go up like 10,000% when it's snowing. i usually drive my crx until the forecast calls for rain or snow, then i bust out the beater. if i happen to get caught in a surprise snow storm, i can manage, but i don't make it a habit.

take the carbon fiber wing off if you can. i see a lot of carbon fiber get brittle and crack in the cold we get in indiana, and i know it gets worse elsewhere. the fwd is nice in the snow, but makes it harder to do dognuts.

Taking it on and off is going to suck, dont you think there is more of a chance to break it just removing it and putting it back on, I thought carbon fiber was the stuff of nasa, guess its not that strong after all.
