I know this topic has been talked to death but I need some input. I know they are equally good in there own way but here is my situation, and I am having a diffucult time choosing for my future engine swap to a b16 series.
My wants: 300 hp Durablity least amount of ticking and routine maintiance price What do you guys think, turbo or supercharger based on these comments: BTW I was looking for supercharger and saw one from Jackson racing, http://www.jacksonracing.com/Shop/ViewProd...teIndexID=33371 , says it for the B16A2. Now I was looking at hmotorsonline.com for my engine swap and how do you know which B16 is the A2? ![]() |

it would seem to me that a supercharger might make more sense for a daily driver car than turbo but when it comes down to it i guess it wouldnt really matter, alot of you have guys turboed daily drivers.
but..does anybody see sense in what i just said? the peak HP ratings arent even close though..biggere difference than i thought.

well, the supercharger is going to be running all the time... belt-driven, so it will theoretically put more wear on your car for daily driving... a turbo won't spool unless you stomp on it, so that's why I'd pick a turbo over a supercharger... but it depends on what you want

IMO, superchargers and high revving motors don't belong together. whereas the turbo is going to make more and more boost the faster the thing revs, the supercharger is eventually going to choke off airflow.
plus, a supercharged 1.6L isn't going to make 300 hp without some higher compression. most JRSC guys are only putting out a little over 200 whp. if you really want 300, you've got to go turbo.

Turbo handsdown.. i personally own neither but have been in both supercharged, and turbo cars..and definately the turbo was much more memorable.

[/quote] Just remember that the guarantee is for the SC ONLY, if something else in your motor goes, that's your responsibility Also, it sounds like your friend doesn't know much about Honda tuning, maybe he's used to V8's. There aren't alot of Civic drivers that you would hear say that SC is better than a turbo. |
