hey guys, i'm new here and to the performance of cars.
i'm thinking of supercharging my civic... i thought it would better in my money budget and installation knowledge (i'm still new) as compared to turboing (in my view). supercharging seems to be in more of my range as to the installation process.. i know only a little about cars. first of all, is this possible? do i need to make any drastic modifications to my car if it is? any information will do. keep in mind it's an AT. >.<

hope i'm not too newbie for ya guys
thanks for your help,
~ iOn

Turbocharging isn't really that hard, and it will get you better power on your car than the supercharger. If you piece together your own setup, you can actually do it pretty cheaply too.

but would turbo be as effective on an AT? it's just the installation that's going to be a b**** to me.. i'm still new. turbo takes affect in high rpms and supercharged runs on your belt in low rpms, correct? i basically just want the easiest way to boost up my hp.

super chargers are always "on" although you dont get much use out of them. Most people find they've actually wasted their money because once you go boost you want more... super chargers can only offer so much for a honda. Also yes turbo charged automatics run more consistantly.

Please search through our TECH information and the forced induction forum. You can find most anything you want on the subject. Also SC vs turbo has been addressed many times there

Not necessarily true. Most high power turbo setups just tend to run in the high rpms because people use old outdated turbos and don't know how to tune. You can actually have a turbocharger come online at full boost before a Roots supercharger. Use a small turbo, and you can have torque almost immediately off idle. Just look at VW's 1.8T- it has a flat torque curve from 1500rpm all the way to 5000rpm. It's all about turbo sizing and tuning.

Read as much as you can, then when you "hit the wall" and can't find an answer, post up a question.
