Hi all, I own a 91 integra and it has a B20B block. All other engine components are stock integra. The intake manifold, head, distributer, computer, everything is factory 91 Integra except the B20 block. I got a ticket for it last week and I have to take it to the ref. It passed smog...so I am not worried about that. The visual inspection however, I am not sure about. I don't know the law on inspection...I have heard that it is mostly up to the inspector, but I would like to hear if anyone has had this done before and what they had to do to get it passed. I am in California by the way. Thanks.

I've been to the ref before, but not with a B20. I'm surprised the cop could tell it was a B20...I guess they're getting more perceptive. Anyways, it does kinda depend on the inspector you get. The one I talked to basically told me that if it passed the sniffer and the swap was done correctly, he'd pass it. It'd have to look like it was meant to be there from the factory...no wires running all over the place exposed, no CEL, all the correct US smog equipment, etc. I've heard some people say that the B20 won't pass because it's classified as a "light truck" engine...but I'm not for sure on that.

Damn, they are fully trained in this shit already.. I didnt think that would happen for a while. Depending in what city you live in i know a guy with a performance shop in SF who can tell you exactly what you need to do in terms of dealing with the state refs and being able to get that barcode your going to need.

what part of CA are you from?
