So I have finaly found a cd player to my liking and its acctually cheap. Its one of the only ones I could find that had a usb port right on the front how pimp is that. I dont think I will even use the cd part of it. Anyways Best Buy wants wants $90 for the power splitter and to hide my old factory radio (if you dont know the factory radio powers my keyless entry, something i dont want to lose) then they want $50 for the freakin wire harness. I know this is a redicoulous price but i dont know if i could do the install my self. What do you guys think, is there any sites that show how to do this special type of install and have lots of pics.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah its easy to do! and a lot cheaper! Taking out the old radio is not hard. I was at walmart the other day and noticed they had aftermarket wires! so you might able to find the wires and spliter you need from walmart for cheap, if not, ebay!!!! What type of car do you have? and what type of cd player are you putting in it?

well the whole poin tis that you have to keep the old stereo for keyless entry purposes, not just installation. Ebay is the cheapest for harnesses. I got mine for 7 bucks shipped.

Personally i tapped into my stock harness to For power, remote and ground then hidw the stock units lower behind the lower pocket and ran new wiring the all the speakers. I'm not sure if there is even a harness out there that will let you keep the stock unit connected, Because from an insurance point of vue from the manufacture you should have two units powered off the stock wiring with no adition fusing ect. But shit if there is one out there please let me know because i would love to clean up my ish.

I have never done a cd deck install, i know that i could i just would like some instuctions/walkthrough of how to power old unit, and install new one. What is the name of the component that spits the power? How do you know which harness i will need?

If you feel like you can take this task on, I can provide you with a diagram of the stock harness and what you need to TAP and what you need to cut.

let me ask a question, does the radio just need power, switched and ground, if so i'd just wire it in like an amp, use remote power from the new radio, ect... then he could add a system later, toss that thing in the trunk.

they also make crazy harnesses these days i'm sure there's a Insignia to honda harness out there,

Just bought a generic cd harness at walmart for imports, they had the correct honda wiring though. The guy there said just to spice the power and skip buying a spitter. I believe that the factory unit only needs power, could not imagine what else it would need, maybe connection to the intena since it uses the radio to work the keyless entry.
