ok heres my question im buying an engine
and i notice that the b16 is 170hp and the b18 is 180
b16 is $1850 and the b18 is $2800
now to me i see a gran diffrence for only 10hp
is there some thing else that im missing
now i hear that the block of a b18 is better then a b16 but the head of
the b16 is better then the b18

now can someone tell me the real diffrence between the two
and which one is better

B16 is the smaller motor, actually only has 160hp. its not really that the block on a B18 is better, its that its the larger motor, so it has more hp and more torque. the heads there is a difference. the B16 has a better intake manifold, but the B18 has more aggresive cams. The B16 transmission has shorter gearing, and an a2 doesnt have an LSD. Not all B18's do, but more than B16's. You would pretty much have to decide what you want to do,and how much you want to spend. if you just want a decent swap with potential, go with the B16, if you want to turbo and fully build your motor go with the B18. Im building my B16, but i just didnt want to switch blocks, and not near as many people build them. But both motors either way are a good setup to go with imo.

theres more differences than that...is the head better off of a b16?...depends...yes and no, the GSR head due to combustion chamber design yields more compression. now the valve angle in b16 is a litttle better, but the runner design is straighter in a gsr. These are things that your getting into, that you will NEVER notice. The GSR(b18c1) would be the better choice if you have the money, more power, more torque.
