Been a while since I have been here but I got a question I need help on. When I got my car all the modifications were already made to it, so I have little expirence on working on it. My cold air intake seems to be getting louder (maybe I am just imagining it) and after winter I think that the filter is in need of a cleaning or replacment.

First questions is, how do I even take it off. BTW its a Ingen cold air intake (one piece). The filter is in the front part of the body kit with no clear way of me getting in.

Next what do I use to clean the filter? How long does it need to dry etc..

Lastly, do you think I should just buy a new filter vs. cleaning?

Thanks in advance

ummm, just take it off lol. Sounds like you have a cai, so just kneel down and reach around and unscrew the clamp that holds the filter on. Then manover it out.

make sure you have a rechargeable filter. Then just fallow the instructions on the recharge kit.

Depends on the filter and condition.

and no, thank you

It is the same filter that came with my Ingen cai, i dont have the manual/instuructions because i bought the car with it installed already. Not sure what solution to use to clean the filter with.

Just got this off Ingens site,

"
All Injen Air Filters can be cleaned using cotton gauze air filter cleaners and oil that can be purchased from most major auto part stores.
We suggest cleaning the filter every 30,000 miles or when it becomes visibly black in color. We recommend examining the filter every 9,000 miles.
"

Is this the same as all of those KN cleaner kits or something diffrent.

yup, just use a k&n kit and follow the instructions that are provided in the kit. All the rechargable air filters are the same concept.

in most cases you can gain access to the air filter on a cai system through the wheel-well. the plastic well liner should still be oem and you can get access from there.
