I have a 96 Civic EX sedan, and I looked up the VIN number and it is registered as having a VTEC engine. However, on the engine block there is no VTEC stamp. So, is my Civic VTEC or no?

then yeah, you have vtec... should be on the valve cover if i'm not mistaken.

There isnt a VTEC stamp on the valve cover. Is there anywhere else on the car that would tell me its VTEC status?

Nevermind, I found the engine model number: D16Y8. Definitely VTEC, thanks for the help.

if nothing else the easiest way to tell is if it has a VTEC selenoid on the motor, which would be located on the head.
