SCCA huh??

I dont know man. I'd go with maybe the gramlights or some Rota's - Slips or others.

Rota's for the budgeted. Volks for the rich.

Default Re: Rims

You need not have exotic wheels for SCCA racing. Look to the local speed shop (not the sports car type) for some Aeros or similar. They are not expensive and are sufficiently light and strong. You are going to bend up some wheels sooner or later and high zoot wheels are too expensive to abuse. The real weight problem is in tires not wheels. The wheel is much smaller in diameter than the tire so the radial moment of inertia is not nearly as influential as are the moments of the tires. Cant do much about the tires can we? Roundness, concentricity and balance are all factors to be concerned with. If any of those are less than optimum you will have diminished traction for braking, cornering, and acceleration. Wheels (rims) are only part of the equation. Tires are not necessarily round. Neither are they particularly concentric with their beads. Mind the tire mounting process carefully. The beads do not always get into perfect position. While you are about fretting the mounting process, be sure that the dude who mounts the tires does not slop up the beads and bead seats with an excess of soapy water. The last thing you want in the tires is any vestige of water.
