Cold Air Intakes

I have a 98 honda civic i was woundering a couple of things. If i get a cold air intake will it really be worth my money does it make my car faster and better on gas? 2nd if so does it matter if i get name brande or anyone of these they offer on ebay that are cheap?

A cold air intake should be good for about 5-10 hp. Gas mileage may improve slightly if any on a stock engine. When buying parts for your car always buy reputable brands. yes there are $25 intakes, usually come with horrible paper filters that may not filter as good as they look. A good reputable intake would be AEM which utilizes K&N filters and you won't break the bank at the costs of them.

If you have the money you can also go with HKS, GReddy, Blitz or APEX'i systems which have alot of R&D put into them to extract as much air as possible. Plus you get the prestige factor when popping your hood. Nice to see high end parts on a car than really bad cheap pieces.

If you live somewhere that does emissions testing, you may need to buy an intake that is CARB certified. If it were me, I'd go short ram...or get the Comptech Icebox, with the cold air tube...best of both worlds.

i'm with them cheaper isnt always better, paper filters suck big ones. I had an aem cold air on my build before i went turbo, i loved that thing, i'd deff recommend an aem shrot ram or cold air for your car

i read somewhere else in here that the V2 isnt worth the extra money. 2.1 HP isnt worth 100 bucks. true? is it any safer or more productive for your engine? which brings me to my next question, a cold air intake wont affect engine reliability at all would it?

i just got an 02 accord EX-V6 (coupe) and im not looking to do really anything to it cosmetically (excpet some JDM black headlights) but i am planning on an AEM V2 and i was also looking at a Greddy EVO 2 exhaust system. so is the V2 worth it or just go with the older model AEM CAI??

also, a bit out of place...but i want an exhaust system the performs well, but doesnt make a shitload of noice. i want one as quiet and smooth as possible. any suggestions for that? i think i heard HKS makes quieter exhaust systems but i suppose each model for each brand is different....
