Default trying to make my 91civic si get more mpg?

can anyone help me what i can do to get my 91 civic si to get better mpg? i'm getting around 40mpg but want to see how much more i can get by changing what??? an ecu from a civic dx or standard? injectors? or what else is there? without spending a ton of money can it be done with a few mods???

you can do your basic intake/exhaust, change the air filter/plugs, etc. If you really want better gas mileage look into the d15b7 engine I believe. It's non-vtec and i've heard of people getting over 40mpg with it.

my motor is good and want to keep it. trying to do this low budget. from a lower hp civic using say the injectors and ecu do the trick?

No, I'm pretty sure using smaller injectors and the different ecu would just make your engine run like crap. Your engine has its ecu tuned to work for the power output of your car... if you switch your ecu with a computer from a 90hp engine to your 120hp engine, then it will be running hella lean, since the 90hp engine requires less fuel. It will most likely just make your car sputter/run like donkey shit.

40MPG and you want more..? I just picked up a 92 Hatch that I have filled 5 times so far and my Low was 28.86 MPG High was 33.08 and the average is.... 30.37 MPG with it being 100% highway driving

OP- basic tune up, plugs, wires, filter, oil would definatly help

Driving style affects your MPG.
Also downgrading to the taller geared HF transmission would help, but then you give up performance.
