Default catalytic converter question

i have a 96 honda civic ex with an aftermarket muffler or as many call it a fart can but the only problem is that it deosnt fart its got a deep sound and i want more of a loud fart sound that can be heard from a mile away and i heard that if you take off your catalytic converter it will give you that sound is this true...i was going to replace the catalytic converter with a thrush glasspack lol...good idea? or bad idea?

yes removing the cat will make the exhaust louder by increasing airflow, the glasspack or just straight pipe will work. do you have an intake on the car?

i'm actually looking for a deeper sound for my 02 civic sir, sorry to turn the thread around but i just wanted to know what aftermarket muffler you had.
