What year is your car? What is your goal for the car? How much do you have to spend? Lastly, who will be doing the work, yourself or a shop? Answer those and we can give you better help on what route you might want to go with.

Yeah I had a huge thing typed up and I lost it.. GRRR

He wants to go B18 or h22..

I think if he's got the money go ahead and fit the B18 in there.. H22 seems like a tight fit in a civic.. Doesn't look like you could turbocharge a h22 civic, thats for sure.

the H22 is a tight fit, it will fit though. and i do believe i have seen a few turbo H22 civics. personally i think the H22 is way over rated. just go with the B18 (or B16 if you like) or hell use a sohc motor and turbo it. that can be just as good as it's DOHC counterparts.

Twan, the more this question comes up, the easier my answer gets, haha
The H22 (2.2L) will cost the most and will no doubt be the most dificult to have installed/install on your own.
The B18 (1.8L) will cost less and will be less of a problem for whoever is opting to do the install.
As for the swap . . .
Check around . . . You can compare the Horse power and Torque ratio of the engines that you are talking about to several other engines and you can get about the same #s from smaller motor setups while gaining MORE support for them at the same time.
B16 (1.6L) dohc vtec setups can provide extreme #s when built/tuned right. <-- Just something that you may want to think about.
They are more readily avalible and there is much more aftermarket support for them as far as parts, mods, etc.
Do some homework for yourself on this before you commit to something right away. You're talking about a bunch of $ here!
The guys/girls on this site will definately help you out in pointing you in the right direction.
Ask as many questions as you need to and be as spacific as you can . .
We'll all go from there!

Welcome to CL by the way . . . Stick around and enjoy!!!

94+ H22.....very nice motor for a civic...my freind has one in his eg and he just ran a 12.8 (also has cams, intake, header, straight pipe). If you have the moeny go H22 but it is very pricey and you usally will run into problems like the half axle is sometime a problem and you will have get one made. Very good motor tho.
