Hello fellow peeps,
i am a newbie, i have been kinda viewing the site for a few months, but just now decided to actually sign up to it...... well im from the big d, dallas tx. born and raised, lol
i drive a 2000 si with much work done, just a few thangs here, 17" racing harts (c2's), 5 zigen exhaust, dc 4 - 2 - 1 header, motor in it right now is stock bottom end, with skunk 2 cams, fuel rail, msd ign and dist, dry kit at 90 pills, mugen valve cover, new mounts.....etc....interior...... clarion dvd, in dash touch screen. custom nitrous, swtiches, gauges and 5.1 surround being installed as we spak here. i do alot of the work myself.... i have pretty close ties to intercrew and jotech, so when i cannot fiqure somethang out i just make the call. thats really a small list of thangs that are done, at the end of summer time i will be wraping the car with skins wrap, basically a big vinal sticker, email me for more info on skinwraps.
if i new how to post a pic i would, but for some reason i cant fiqure it out.,... also in future, i will be droping a ls vtech that has been in the works........

Hey! Welcome to the site too!!

Just one thing . . If you are thinking about skins wrap, be sure to double think it.

I worked in the vinyl industry for a few years and I can tell you, there's nothing worse to do to your paintjob on your ride than to plaster it with this ish. Fade fade fade

If you are still dead set on doing it, make sure that you don't leave it on more than a few months at a time and do your self another favor . . . park that bad boy in the shade!

Best of luck to ya and again, welcome to CL . . Stick around and enjoy!

well, from my understanding it wont fade the car, but these guys will guarntee it for 5 years from fadeing and tears and all that, not sure, im gonna do some double checking... cause i can get it painted for alittle more than what the vinal will cost...... but i really like the idea that u can take any design/pic and have it on your car.... technollgy....... how can i post a pic here?

Thanks Aaron!

Now, as for the vinyl . . They are giving you a guarantee against fading for 5 years . . yes! If using a material called "premium cast" wich is a very good grade for vinyl, the color will not fade . . at least for a few years. The image on it is pretty much printed and cleared so that it will also stay. I'll also guarantee that since I used to make digital vinyl banners for football stadiums and what not.
As for your car paint fading . .
Any paintsource in the world is susceptible to fading, this depends on the elements that surround it. If you cover the paint in vinyl, ect, you are pretty much just slowing down the process underneath it.
When you remove it, the paint is semi-preserved BUT the paint that wasn't covered will have faded much more giving you a "ghost" image were it was applied.
See? I've just seen it too many times not to warn ya about it, lol
