Never heard of using bulb covers before. I don't think they would cause a problem with the guage cluster. I doubt a dealer would fix it now, you may be stuck getting one from an EX.
Isn't Acetone really bad for you to breath? Doesn't sound like a good idea in a car.

it owrked though. i needed it to stake off the green filter so the light coverd with red would shine through.
