Bought the car in May of 2002 for $1600 from an elderly man who had accumulated a total of 29,700 miles in the 12 years of ownership. As it sits in my garage it now has 46,821 miles on it. It is untouched other than what I have changed, basically it still smelled new when I bought it, the original silver 13" steel rims that were OEM are still shiny like new, everything was there, original floor mats w/ civic stitching, bascially something I will never find again espcially in upstate NY where cars usually succumb to the harsh winters. This guy had a house in Florida and stayed there during the winter, he went legally blind two years after buying the car and had it parked in his garage for 10 years. Mods to my civic are as follows(not in any particular order, just as they come to mind): 1990 White Honda Civic Dx Hatch -16" white Kosei K1 w/ 205/40R16 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 -Fastbrakes 11" big brake upgrade(stainless lines, 4 piston Willwood Dynalite calipers, adapter brackets, wilwood polymatrix d pads) -Energy Suspension full chassis kit w/ trailing arm bushings -Neuspeed short shifter w/ DC shift knob -Neuspeed front sway bar -Neuspeed front upper tie bar -Neuspeed rear lower tie bar -Neuspeed rear upper tie bar -EM Racing rear c-pillar bar -Neuspeed Spark plug wires -Bosch distributor cap and rotor -NGK Iridium IX plugs -Cusco front lower tie bar -JDM Honda Integra steering wheel -Factory option mid console -Factory option passenger mirror -Updated headlights to 91 model w/ breathers (gets rid of that awful water problem w/ the older models 88-90) - HKS low and high beam headlight bulbs -Tanabe Hyper Medallion cat back exhaust -Factory option armrest -Updated guage cluster to Si style w/ tachometer (retained factory milage by swapping odometers) -Kenwood Excelon 6 1/2" in back deck -Pioneer 6 1/2" in doors -Alpine CDA-9833 head unit -New timing belt, water pump, cam seal, distributor o-ring, valve cover gasket, intake gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, head gasket(began to leak trace amounts of oil on edges of head where the oil return gallies are) In process -Build up of D16Z6 SOHC VTEC motor out of my parted 95, amazing deal bought the whole car, slightly wrecked for 500$ -Steering rack upgrade w/ Quaife's newest unit short ratio steering rack, reduces lock to lock from 3.87 turns stock to 2.8 turns -Saving for all other un-ending modifications to civic while keeping my newest daily driver in one piece Mods to my 1993 Acura Integra GS Bought this car for $900, its loaded w/ leather and power everything, moonroof, spoiler, abs etc, however the previous owner piled on miles and wear and tear, milage at purchase, 171,000, current milage 173,500, bought the car in May of 2004, didn't start driving it until October 2004, after all this stuff was fixed... -Daiken Exedy oem style clutch w/ resurfaced flywheel -Brembo blanks all around w/ hawk pads all around -Energy Suspension full chassis kit w/ rear trailing arm bushings -New front springs(cracked) -KYB GR-2 shocks all around -New factory power antennae(rusted housing) -Under bumper plastic(missing) -Rear license plate mounting brackets(rusted, mangled) -Rear calipers(frozen) -Main relay -Oil pan gasket -OEM NGK plugs -Acura ignition wire set -Acura distributor cap and rotor -Valve cover gasket -BFGoodrich tires all around -New windshield(cracked) -Wiper arm linkage(plastic socket broken) -Rebuilt blower motor/replaced resistor (no heat=cold winter) -Compustar car starter/keyless entry/alarm Also a side note... if your still reading, I work at a local Honda dealership during my time off in the summer from college. I'm in my junior year for Mechanical Engineering Tech at Suny IT. I've got quite a bit of experience w/ hondas including completely building a honda out of junk parts for a friend w/ a 91 hatch shell, modifying a friends mint 95 sedan ex, and various other projects right now im involved in completely re-doing a messed up head gasket job, never allow people who disreguard torque specs and charge 800$ w/out at least scraping the old gasket off to do your work, it will always result in doing it twice, i dont know if my friend will ever learn... Nice to meet ya and believe me my posts are never nearly ever this long, had a bit of time to waste and I wanted to let everyone know where I stand. Later PS. check out these other sites I frequent, www.midstateimports.com (local car forum) www.g2ic.com (popular 2nd generation integra forum) www.d-series.org (for those not so b series hardcores...) www.civic4g.com (longtime member of Netherlands based 4th gen civic site) www.ubrf.org (popular site for western NY Buffalo/Rochester area) |
