here i am

hello my name is mike and i'm getting ready to buy my first used Honda Civic. I've got my eye on a '93 ex coupe but the seller says that it has a "rod knock". I assume this to be a broken rod. Any advice on how I should handle the situation would be welcome and appreciated.
