OK i'm wanting to clean the swap i just got. I just want to make sure that i cover everythign that shouldn't get wet. I know i need to cover all the electronics but what about the clutch and fly wheel. The tranny isn't on the motor so should i try not getting water in there? And what would be the best thing to use to clean it. Should i just unbolt everythign from the block, like the Alt, Ac, and other crap.

When I clean my block, I use the Gunk Engine Brite Heavy Duty Degreaser Link to product, along with Simple Green degreaser. Both products should run you no more than $5 at an AutoZone, Discount Auto parts, etc.

Since I have a CAI, I remove just the filter and cover that with a plastic grocery bag. I also cover the distributor cap in the same way.

For every sensor I see throughout the car, I wrap it with saran wrap so it doesn't get wet.

I wouldn't unbolt everything you have. Leave it on there, and if there are any major openings (such as where the tranny sits), then just stuff the hole w/ plastic bags, etc.

Good luck!

damn, i just cake the shit with simple green, and go to town with the hose. i dont bother covering the filter at all. i have a CAI. i dont worry about water getting sucked up into it. i figure, water is heavier than air, so it will suck the air not the water. and if any water gets sucked up into that bitch, engines are really hot. it evaporates!

To each his own I guess
