They announced a plan to build a $250 million downtown sports arena. Sprint the biggest company and based in Kansas City has signed on for the naming rights and it's to be called the Sprint Center. Finally we get to get rid of the wrost arena in the country in Kemper and get was will in up being the most unbelievable arena in the country. Maybe now we'll be able to land a NHL or NBA team.

they just built a new stadium a few years ago in Foxboro, MA. replace the old "Foxboro" staduim. now its called the Gillette Stadium. i really hate how company's are putting their names on shit. theres one in RI called the Dunkin Donuts Center, what the fuck is that. friggin stupid. they should only alow it for companies with cool ass names.

like
The Girls Gone Wild Center of performing arts
or
The Playboy Stadium

I hope the don't replace the cotton bowl with a new staduim for the cowboys.

I guess that I'm read now they are going to put the National College Basketball Hall of Fame(they are doing this because the NCAA was founded in Kansas City and was here till it moved it's offices to Indy a few years ago, and I think that right now Kansas City has hosted more Final Fours then any other city) in the new arena and are trying to get the Big 12 Toureny back. But I don't think that we are after going to have it again like we did then it was the Big 8. It's not going to be a yearly thing only in KC again I have a feeling they are going to move it around to different cities in Big 12 country.

The fun part about all of this is that Kansas City is the sports architecture captail of the world with something like the top 5 sports architecture frims based in downtown KC. And they have came out and said they are all going to work together to design this new arena with a since of "hometown pride" so the thing is going to be out of control when it's all said and down.

Companies naming stadiums and arenas doesn't brother me. It basically helps fund their building and give extra money to the teams that play there. Normally companies sign a contract to pay for name rights for 20 to 30 years and end up giving close to $200 million dollars to the teams. It's as easy way to show some pride for the city that you are based in like Sprint it doing. H&R Block which is KC based has first rights to naming it because the are building a new HQ 3 or 4 blocks away from where the arena is going.

Well American Airlines is paying 6.5 million a year in Dallas and Phillips is paying 9.3 million a year in Atlanta so I'm guessing it's going to be in that range and a 30 year agreement.
