I'm in the market for an Ipod, and I don't know which one to get, so I'm soliciting CL's help in doing so.

I'm trying to justify the need/practicality of the following models:

- Ipod Mini
- Ipod regular
- Ipod U2 special edition
- Ipod photo

From those who already have Ipods, or those looking, can you shed some light which one I should go with?

TIA

mini's are gay.. i have 15 gigs of music a 4 gig ipod wouldn't do dick. thier nice to look at but at that their not THAT mini.

photo is cool but will cost you and is it really worth it? i hardly ever have my ipod out of my case.. chances are you wont either..

u2 edition is a gay waste of money you can mod your ipod with skins and vynal etc.

my choice normal ipod but maybe a 40 giger? their coming out with a 80 gig ipod so the price for the 40 should go down

depends on how much digital music you have/listen to and if size is an issue.

When I was thinking about getting one I wanted the 40gig one, but size doesn't really matter too much. Just get what you want the most.

I like my 40Gigs...
though right now Im at about 275 and i've not even scratched the surface.

they are sort of big, I wouldnt use it if youre walking around, mine mainly sits on my desk and or my bag.
I dont know how much stress the disk can take so I dont walk around with it in my pocket much.

so IMO the regular one will do ya'

Exactly my thoughts. I have hundreds of CD's downloaded and I don't even come close to using 40 gigs.

I have the 20GB one and only maybe 4GB of music on it...mainly because I'm picky with what I put on it....I didn't put all my mp3s on it...only the ones I've been listening to lately.

So far I've walked around campus, been on a plane, sat in Salt Lake City airport on a 4 and half hour layover and been skiing with it and I don't even feel it when I'm walking around with it. It doesn't brother me at all.

I'm with Eric, the Mini ones aren't that mini.

U2 one...are you really that big of a U2 Fan? Last time I checked only my dad was that big of a U2 fan to buy that.

iPod Photo...I still really dont' see the point of this...maybe when it has it's own camera built into it.

listen to the only mac user on the board... do you really need to have more than 4gb of music on you at one time? the only reason, that I want to get a bigger ipod is so that I can carry around files with me. everyone bitches and moans about the 4gb being to small in size and what not. The only downfall is that for about 50-100$ more you can get the bigger sized one. I think the mini should be cheaper, but oh well what can you do. I wouldnt even get the ipod photo unless I was a digital photographer, that would be a great walking portfolio, that or if you travel to see family alot, and like to show off pics to them, or something along those lines. I say get the mini if you dont care about file storage (plus it will get you "oh thats so cute" from the ladies) other wise get one of the regular ipods which suites your size needs. Oh the U2 model is gay.... why u2 gets there own ipod I dont know... I guess they give good head or something... but dont buy that fucking ugly p.o.s. thing... who really wants to spend more for a black ipod, wich some fake ingraved autographs? Also if you dont care much about haveing a bajillion songs with you, ipod made this new thing called iPod Shuffle. It comes in 512mb and 1gb sizes... it dosent have a screen, it's about as big as a pack of gum, and basically it's to hold about a few cds, and just foward reverse threw the tracks or just play the tracks on shuffle. It's kinda neat but oh well I hope I helped.
