and i wasn't dissing the power of your tornado. i was just giving you the Fujita scale since you didn't sound like you knew about it.
Dude in kansas you learn the fujita scale in school....we're talking about a state that has 200+ torandos a touch down...maybe even more then that some years.

Last spring...we had a string of five straight days when we were in a torando warning and there was a torando on the ground with in 15 miles of our house....god I love spring....can't wait for the stroms this year! [/b]
Dude...the fuck is wrong with you?
(Take some video though...)

F1 is the weakest a tornado can be by the way, with an F5 being the strongest.
Actually, there's 6 classifications of Tornados. F0 being the weakest.

Quote:
F0: 40-72 mph. Causes light damage such as breaking branches from trees, tearing out shallow-rooted trees and damaging sign posts, traffic signals and chimneys.

F1: 73-112 mph. Results in moderate damage such as tearing of roofing materials and vinyl siding, knocking mobile homes from foundations and blowing motorists off roads.

F2: 113-157 mph. Destroys well-established trees, mobile homes and roofs. Also, train cars and trucks can be knocked over and small objects become dangerous missiles.

F3: 158-206 mph. Severe damage is done to forests and entire trains are derailed and knocked over; walls and roofs are torn from houses.

F4: 207-260 mph. Causes devastating damage, razing houses and other small structures. Automobiles can be propelled through the air.

F5: 261-318 mph. Incredible damage results. Cars become projectiles as they are hurled through the air; entire houses are destroyed after being ripped from the foundation and sent tumbling; steel-reinforced concrete structures can be seriously damaged.[/b]

All you tornado people, keep in mind we live in highly populated areas...hilly/mountainous areas...not flat areas like the plains of midwest. Tornadoes in CA almost NEVER touch down. We don't have basements to hide in or shelters to go to, no tornado warning equipment, nothing. We had one hit here a few weeks ago too...F1, broke some windows, downed some trees. One also touched down a couple weeks before that in south central LA...ripped off a few roofs from houses.

In all fairness, we might be tornado wimps, but a lot of people from other places in the country are earthquake wimps. Never even felt one, but scared of them.

we had a tornado in my hometown tonight as well. i'll post some pics tomorrow. it was a little scary because when I called my mom there was a firetruck driving down the road yelling out to take cover. but i was fine because i drove to my dad's hospital and parked the Z underground in doctor parking

we had an f4 come through our town in the 80s. killed 10 people and injured 170. at least they are pretty random so there isn't much point in worrying about them.

I'd rather brave the cold and a tornado every 5 years or so than have to deal with earthquakes which come without ANY warning at all.

You can at least tell when a rainstorm is coming, rainstorms breed tornados.

But at least you have it better off than Florida does.

4 hurricanes in a month. No thanks.

definate word to that! No way...Id probably have a nevous break down or something. But Brett has a very good point. Ones i didnt even think of about equipment and safety cellars.

And true about earthquakes. I remember the Ocotber 17th 1989 Earthquake. it was like a 7.4, our central freeway dropped, and all kinds of crazy shit happened.

I was standing on a 2 story deck at a family friends house with my mom when it happened and half the deck collapsed after we ran in the house. A beam broke.

natural disasters in GA are really rare. couple of tornados in the past few years...F1's if anything, very little damage. no earthquakes over here. hurricanes effect us but only by making it rainy and windy, etc. we don't have to deal w/ the damage and stuff like in FL.
