I have so much to say about this situation..but my hands just aren't up to typing all of it. We couldn't help the hurricane, but the people who live in New Orleans could help living in a city that has damn levy's holding water out. Yeah, that would make me feel safe.

I saw George Dubaya making a speech on tv the other day, and I don't think anything could have made me hate him worse. I voted for Kerry.

IMO our government sucks. Now I know a lot of you are going to flip out and take up for them, and that's your opinion. I hate the way our country is running, I hate the fact that I pay a shit load in taxes and see nothing good being done with it, I hate a lot about this country, but when it comes down to it, there's not really any other place I would want to live...so basically I have to deal with it. I hope the people affected by the hurricane make it out ok.

This thread is absoulutely worthless. Bush is in office, cant do shit about it.. Cant stop mother nature, fighting a war that shouldnt exist but does... What the fuck can we do? NOTHING.. Im a U.S citizen that doesnt support the decisions made by the president but one voice means nothing in this nation.

I have nothing to say anymore on the matter, I'd rather not get myself all juiced up for more dissapointment and sarcasm towards political system.

There is a saying in latin culture el muerto y el arrimado a los tres dias apestan: "Guests and dead peole both reek after the third day"

People that are being housed in the astrodome 2 blocks fom my house. People are given a wristband, and with that some people are actually going out to find a job, the mayor has worked with the biggest companies here locally in order to increase employment (when it is already hard to find a job for some people) opportunities for these out of town guests.

however there are TONS of them that do nothing but hang around, litter, defocate (shit and piss) out on the street, in plain view, some are picketing bitching about how the govt is not helping them and some are harrassing people as they drive by, begging for money, food, work etc... there is a gas station at the corner of one astrodome and people all just hang out there.

In the mean time the day laborer areas are not any busier than before, if these people wanted to help themselves they'd go there its not that far from the astrodome as it is. so I"m a bit undecided as to if iam all for helping these people out, they are desperate, and in need/want of money sooner most of not some of them will turn to stealing and robbing increasing an already high crime rate, besides the city's resources are already highly taxated, do we really need to over-extend ourselves?

this is just my opinion, consideing my family and I are involved on here, my wife and i have both volunteered to help as a paramedic(her) and with remote support(me) at both of our jobs. We have also seen that some of these pople arent really grateful, most are but a great part of them are not! They feel like they deserve this help! and personally I don't think anything is owed to them.

You cant help those that do not want to help themselves.

i'm sorry you feel that way...but as a native new orleanian i have to say, where are these "out of towners" supposed to go?

yea lucky for me and my friends, either we moved away from the city, or we have family we can go to in other places, or better yet the finances to temporarily relocate. not everyone has those options. your state or should i say your city was gracious enough to open the astrodome to these now homeless people. consider their situation for their behavior...put yourself in their shoes...how would you feel? i'm not taking up for their lack of "gratefulness," but its just a fucked up situation to be in period.

no I didnt vote in this election, and I wont vote, until I find a president that I think is worthy of the possition.
Then you really have nothing to bitch about. I love it when people say, "I'll vote when there's someone worth voting for." It's simple. Find someone you think is worthy and write them in. At least then you can say you voted, even if it's not for one of the 2 major candidates. But if you don't 'bother' or don't care to vote, then you're not taking part or doing your part. The only way to change things is to take an active role, sitting back bitching on a forum is not the answer.

obviously you must have been in france or afghanistan then.

I've been to Europe including the UK, The netherlands, Germany, Spain, Turkey, Italy and Greece, not ONCE did I hear anyone say anything bad about the US. We hate ourselves more than other people hate us. Its fucking pathetic.

If people hate the US so much, by all means, go right ahead and leave.
