Hondas arent concerned about hp figures if they were, they would produce a fully tuned spoon sports model from the get go. but they dont. they are more concerned about keeping the air clean and hugging some trees.

I hate the car, the motor isnt gonna matter cause the car is going to weigh a billion pounds and it looks like poop. the only thing i really like is the center mounted tach.
C'mon, tell us how you really feel.

I don't know about Honda not being concerned about hp figures. How do you justify their racing heritage if they weren't?

If you are only talking about the Civic, then let's not lose site to what a Civic is: an entry model in their lineup. Something to get you around town, while doing good on gas, and reliable. Then you have the group of Gen Y buyers in or recently out of high school who don't make a ton of money but want a fun little car at a decent price w/out going Acura.

This is where the Si comes in.

exactly.

if nobody has noticed it doesnt take a lot of horsepower for a hodna to perform. even when looing at the GTO vs. TL

5.7 lit vs 3.2

sometihng like 100+ more horsepower. its also a 2 door. and it BARELY outperforms the TL. then you go to a typse S TL, or even more comparibly the TYPE S CL, and the GTO loses its edge. im sure when the new Civics are out on showroom floor and maybe you test drive one or something, youll feel differently about them. my uncle is pretty high up at a Honda dealership so as soon as they come in im gonna have him bring me one to test drive.

Funny because the GTO can be had for much less than the TL. And with a better drivetrain.

Also the only real sports cars Honda makes are the S2000 and the TSX. Why would they be concerned with coming out with a fully tuned Civic that will outperform their "better cars". So again the Civic is not a race car, and that includes the SI. Why even concern yourself with comparing it to better sports cars?

i give the gto 6 years. any bets? american motor companies only care about selling you your next car. not something that lasts. i will never own another gm product in my life unless it was built before 1980.

I agree with the fact that the GTO won't last long unless GM gets their shit together with this car.

It doesn't have that introductory appeal that cars like the Mini Cooper, Beetle, or PT Cruiser had when they came to the market.

Then again, those cars for the most part are much more affordable than a $30K GTO. I look at the new Goat, and I have trouble seeing how this car or Dodge's new charger are going to have that out-of-the-box, long lasting appeal to those who are currenly looking for a car and those who will be in the next 2 years.

Monday I saw a truckload of brand new 2006 civics (fodos) arriving in my town... it was awesome, except i think they look too much like the new accords.

Ok how are you going to back up honda racing heritage with a honda civic SI? The s2000 would be a better choice. I mean yes honda does have a badass indy car and what not, but most of honda's racing focus is in motorcycles. I mean honda engineering is awesome that they can produce almost 160hp out of a SOHC engine. But still whats that heavy tC wanna be gonna run at the track bone stock? 16 flat? woohoo. I love my civic, I just dont like where honda is going. I would rather see the legend max come out, if thats ever gonna happen.
