well i went to new england dragway todaywith my boosted 240sx. got refused by tech at first becuase of chips in my windsheild. so i had to go to a local napa and get an apoxy windsheild repair kit to fix it. once that was done i could race.
so i enter the staging lanes at about 1:00 pm and sat there waiting for almost 2 hours before i finally got to race. there was crazy amounts of cars, and a bunch of spills and brekages on the track that took time to clean up. so i get to the starting, light turns greena and i gun it. and all i get is friggin grinding from my tranny. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. im not sure whats wrong with the tranny but its forked. the ride home wasnt too fun either. car vibrates like a bitch when i take my foot off the gas. anyways, heres how i did r/t: .875 60': 2.477 333: 6.628 1/8: 9.735 mph: 82.83 1000: 12.324 1/4: 14.435 mph: 107.97 please keep in mind this was my very first time racing, ever, lol. i was going to try a second run, but my tranny wasnt sounding too good and i had to drive my car 2 hours home. so i didnt want anything breaking. i was a little dispapointed in my time, but there wasnt much i could do cuz of the tranny. however, my trap speed was pretty good i guess considering it was a 14.4 run. also, run was done at 10-11lbs of boost well, give me thoughts, comments, suggestions, whatever. |

14.4 isnt bad though. especially with a bad tranny. get a new one in there. thats why i havent taken my civic out to the track. my tranny is almost toast.

For sure not bad on the trap. I run 106 for a trap, and my 1/4 is a 13.6. What kind of tires are your running also? It might help to get some drag radials to help get your 1/4 down. That was probably the best thing i bought this summer for my car as i had no traction at all w/street tires at the track. But deffinetly not bad for a first outing at the track.

That trap speed is good for 12's no problem once you fix that tranny, and get some stickies.

Thought the KA had a pretty strong tranny.. Took one apart a while ago and though it was built pretty tough.

yeah my tires suck. 16" 205 55's. they're yittle. first on my list for next season is a set of 15x8 weld wheels and some mickey thompson et streets. giggidy giggidy.
i also gotta get my spare tranny rebuilt, aluminum driveshaft, limited slip and some new bushings to replace my sloppy 240,000 mile ones. i was a little disapointed but hearing that the trap speed is good for a much faster run makes me feel a bit better. |

[/quote] actually, the KA does have a strong tranny. unfortunatly for me, a guy from a local forum told me he had a good tranny with 60k on it. i figured it had to be better then my 240k tranny. so i bought it off him for 50 bucks with the intent to rebuild it. but my budget gor tight and i figured "fuck it" and didnt rebuild it. now months later and it in the car, the synchro's are fucked, it makes noise constantly(sounds like rocks inside, lol) and it randomly pops outta gear and doesnt like going in reverse. talk about a shit storm, lol. so my plan is take my old stock tranny and just have a stock rebuild done. im not gonna upgrade anything cuz i think it'll hold the power. i just wanna have it "freshened up". |
