Well we all know that Nextel has the direct connect feature, and verizon has the PTT feature(bascially same thing) so what is Sprint going to do? Yep you guessed it, In Oct(approz) they will roll out Ready Link. The new 2 way walkie talkie feature for sprint.

This is going to be one of the phones offered, the Sanyo 5400

I am sure it will go through one mroe slight redesign before coming out.

Another option is
the SCP-7200(basically a slightly redesigned 4900)

There are more option in the works but look for these two to be the first two available on the market when Ready Link rolls out. The only reason thsi would be good is if all the major companies band together and roll out inter-carrier push to talk features. How great would it be to be able to use this with a friend who has a verizon phone?

I think with verizon and sprint having this new feature and them having better wireless coverage than nextel(and better phones since they don't only have to go with motorola) I think nextel will have to change up their pricing plans and if not risk oing out of business. The only reason nextel went nationwide with their DC feature was cause they knew Verizon was going to roll it out from the get go.

The thing is that it is convienient cause you can just snap a pic and then send it to an email and even add voice to it.
