Trying to take the stupid thing out so that i can fix all the f'd up wiring under there from the previous owner. all i gotta say is that im am either a total idiot or that thing is a pain in the ass to get out. =/ im guessing its the first one. anyway... just had to rant

hehe, after a few hours i finally got it out yesterday afternoon. thanks though. if anyone else ever does that on a 5th gen hatch, there is this little round wire located about in the middle of the dash that you should probably remember to remove.
really its easy, just combersome. undo harnesses, undo like 5 bolts, lower stearing column, and undo that ground wire and after that it just takes some jiggling. but the first time.... well it sucked.

sorry i didnt read this sooner, or i coulda told you exactly how to take it out. That wire your talking about is for your ac. Had me and my friend stumped for a bit the first time.
