ok..
bought a pair ot tein S-TEC springs from a member on another site he mentioned that he had them on his '02 hatch, but when I got the package and researched the model number I found out that tey are not specific for my '02 hatch I didnt bother making abig fuxx about it beasuse they could go on my wife's car, but anyways...the spring rate is way different, upon doing some research I found out the following about the spring rates on my '02 hatch is as follows: Stock '02 si springs front: 280lbs rear: 440lbs The S-tec teins are: front: 150lbs rear: 275lbs He an a ton of members on some other site sport these springs on their hatch('02-03 si's) They are supposed to lower the car about 1.75 all around or at least that is what eveyone claims there. What would be the compications of having these springs on an ep hatch with such a different spring rate, I would think it cannot be good and lower way more than the 1.75" that eryone claims. Would it make the ride very bouncy or way too soft? Will my shocks go out even faster than normal? Its not really that much of an issue because I can always slap them on my wife's ex as I mentioned earlier, I was just curious because I'd rather lower my car ![]() Any help would be appreciated ![]() --esteban |

I'm not sure what the stock spring rates are on your hatch, but I seriously doubt that the rates are what you listed...

according to Tein the spring rate that they have for 01+ civic s-tech springs are
front:157 reat:291 and the spring rates that you listed of what you think your stock ones seem somewhat unlikly because. With spring rates that high you should have a really stiff ride. for example GC coilovers spring rates in a EG hatch is 325F and 250R.

I know they're not tiens, but I'm thinking of selling my H&R springs. I bought them over the summer and they are BRAND NEW. They have been sitting in the box in a closet since I bought them. I'm not sure if I want to sell them or put them on, but if you want them let me know. |

thanks cacmasta but i have already bought and installed the teins on my hatch...will keep in mindo for the wifeys ride once the warranty goes bye bye
![]() well heres the new skinny on this. I know the spring rate for teh teins was what Draven mentione but the first set of information I got from anther forum was waaayyy wrong. so I decided to call honda of america and they wee extremetly helpful an hooked it up here's what they told me: for teh 2002 si: front: 29.3-43.1 rear: 46.4-69.6 The dude on the phone mentioned something about his being a RATIO based on millimeters? I'm still abit lost on this. Im guessing this is due to the fact that the car was made in the UK which is where thwy use the metric system. this still didnt do much for me s I went and asked a rep at the shoip i have been going to for all of my imports and he said: The springs are NOT made for your car but at the same time I dot see any problems coming from this, he said that if for some reason I end up bottoming out to bring the car back and he would swap out the srpings for my stock ones at no charge. People were mentionning the car feeling too bouncy and the car rocking on turns but i have yet to esperience that and te dude that said this does a lot of autox'ing so I'm thinking he's ful of crap. wether way the springs have been installed and I have had them on for almost a week. the drop has not changed a bit and the ride is a bit stiffier(ha ha) than before...So I guess oly tije will tell :\ ps exlude at another forum basically laid it down and explained the basics for selecting springs. |

also, those numbers don't make sense for the metric standard of kg/mm. i've never seen metric rates that were not in single digits. |

the auto X guy, did he just have the springs? maybe all that abuse really paid a price on his shocks/struts(if they were stock). could be just his set up. my dad has springs on his mustang, and springs only. you tend to get some body roll when cornering hard. i would think it has to do with ONLY upgrading the springs and not the shocks etc. other than thinking of that, i am lost with the whole spring rate thingy.. and metric doesnt help much.
