I'm pretty much ready to buy suspension although I'm not gonna put it on until spring. But I've asked a couple shops this question and nobody can give me a definate answer.

I want about a 1.75" drop and I don't think I'll ever be changing the height of the car, but you never know. I want the best performance I can get for what I can spend. So do springs vs. coilovers have any pro's or con's for performance?

I use the car daily, which will change when I get my 240sx within the next year for daily use. At that point the civic will be for racing probably 80% of the time, maybe a few "feel like driving fast" days. So I guess if I had a coilover I could keep a decent drop, but then go lower for the tracks. Unless around 2" is enough to race with. I don't care about ride quality or comfort- I want performance. If they are the same performance then it would just make sense to buy a coilover to have the option, right? Plus you can get a good savings if you buy a spring/shock package from each brand.

Help please?

I would think coilovers are more track oriented as opposed to just springs and shocks IMO you have the versatility of selecting the drop you want and "tune" it as opposed to getting stuck with springs and shocks.
uless you got adjustable shocks...but coilovers would be better IMO

for your situation i'd go w/ coilovers. skunk2 or ground control would be good choices.

Personally I'd prefer springs, but if this is more or less for some serious track use or whatnot, and you really don't care about ride quality than coilovers will be your best bet, considering you can set them at exactly where you want. Just a warning to you, two of my friends have had Ground Control coilovers [this will go w/ most non-true coilovers] and they got to the point where they wouldn't even drive their cars because the ride quality was aggrivating them that much.

Thanks for the info so far. Yeah I was looking at ground control. They seem to be widely used by some well tuned cars, plus they have a great pricetag on them. The comparison just didn't seem to make sense. Usually when something is tuned for one specific way (or height in this situation), it works better for that one way than a universal, which usually sacrifices performance for flexibility.

def. go with coilovers. just in case for any reason, you need to raise it, you can. a good set of coilovers combined with a good set of shocks/ struts will give you a nice ride.
