Well, before I can get off these skinny 185 firestone tires and on to azenis, I gotta correct my camber. Since I'm gonna put in some shocks this spring break I figured I'd do camber at the same time.
Do brands really matter for camber kits? i looked around on ebay and found a generic kit for $99.99, OBX for $110, and Skunk2 for $179. Would the extra $10 or $90 really make that much difference? I noticed the OBX and skunk2 can be adjusted more, but my camber is only ~1 degree off in the front so that doesn't really affect me. thanks guys -jess

For that little of a camber problem, you can get away with an ingalls kit. SPC also makes a great selection of kits. I am really impressed with their replacement upper a-arm due to the fact that it gives caster and camber adjustment. For the back, I would just do the good ol' washer trick to do that.

I have the skunk2 front kit, and I love it. Andy also mentioned SPC, and they make an awesome front kit.

Brand does matter- but it has more to do with the construction and design rather than the brand name. I've seen some pretty shoddy kits from Sprint that tend to snap after a few thousand miles- they relocate the mount points for the upper A arm, and they do it in a manner that's not very sturdy. Progress makes a great A arm mount relocation kit, but the replacement A arms from Skunk2 and SPC would be ideal. In the rear, if you want to have infinitely adjustable camber, the Ingalls kits are great- they replace the upper link with an adjustable length rod.
If you want to correct camber cheaply but still have something that will last you forver, pick up a Progress kit. Phillip's got a ton of them in stock. |

a little camber isn't nessasarily a bad thing. at the autocross all the regular/experinced drives have SOME negetive camber. and yes, it's on purpose

Of course, but anything more than a degree of negative camber plus just having your toe slightly out of line will really scrub the hell out of your tires on a daily basis. You don't want to run lots of negative camber all the time, especially not on a daily driver.

I think i'll go with SPC..
"This kit includes: Honda EZ Arms XR Front Camber/Caster Control Arms " Is that right? I'm not really familliar with SPC/camber kits. Just checking cause the guy on ebay has 3 feedback.. Oh, mike, have you been to intercrew recently? if so, have you seen a really crappy looking black EG coupe w/steelies and clear corners? heh, the guy is going around school saying he spent $7k on an engine swap, and that he is pushing 215hp+. he's got a huge intercrew banner across the top of the windshield.

SPC is good. I don't know about 3 feedback on eBay though. Check Group Buy Center- I'm sure they'll have some from reputable sellers.
I haven't been to the shop since December, so I'm not sure about the black hatch... but I got 185whp out of my first swap, and it was $6000 installed (plus options)- so I'm not surprised at the claim of 215hp. That power level at the crank is about 185whp. |
