I was looking on Summit Racing's website for wheel locks, and they returned 178 results to me. Gorilla, McGard, Mickey Thompson, just to name a few. McGard returned the most results, so I'm thinking they are the brand to go with.

But I have a few questions on how to choose the right set. For example: Wheel lock set, Bolt, M14 x 1.5, length 45.0mm, radius seat, 17mm hex is one McGard wheel lock set. I'm not quite sure what those numbers mean, and how I'll be able to decide which ones will fit on my car. I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX 2DR.

A-Thank You

Go with Gorilla. They're pretty much the best you can get, and they're some of the hardest to break through. The keys are so tough that you can use an impact wrench on them.

M14 x 1.5,
Thread specs- these have to match your stock lug nuts

Quote:
length 45.0mm[/b]
Just how long the whole locking nut is- match this to your stock nuts too

Quote:
radius seat[/b]
Seat type- Honda/Acura wheels use "acorn" style seats, which is what the radius seat should be

17mm hex[/b]
That's typically the size socket you'll need to drive the lock's key. You can make this any size you want, but the most convenient setup is to get the same size as your stock lug nuts, and that should be 19mm.

That should be it. Buy Gorilla, not McGard.

Mike, I have both. I ended up using the McGards' because I have Gorilla lug nuts and the key for them fit on the Gorilla locks that I had. It's bullshit, they're just a rib nut. If it's tuner style you can get them off with a standard key or if it's standard style they come off with a vice grip (that happened to my father in laws best friend on his dodge ram).

McGard uses a total smooth cylinder so any wrench or grips can't catch them to turn it, and every key has an individual star pattern that has over like 2 million patterns until the same one is reprinted.

My .02cents from actual experience---> Go McGard.

Hmmm. I've seen McGard's design, and I still don't like it... you can't get them off with a tuner lug wrench unless you have a really really big one and you're able to fit it in the tiny space between the nut and the wheel. They have a new version that's kinda like their old design but in a sleeve- it's even harder to crack.

Speaking for lug nuts, Were can i find black or gun metal tuner nuts, I stripped two of the nuts inner threads last year when taking the wheels off for the winter.
