Just got finished putting a whole new suspension system on my civic. Everything was brand new out of the box. My driver's side front suspension is squeaking. I could just go up to that side and press down on the car repeatedly to hear the noise.
How could a brand new KYB shock already be squeaking? None of the other shocks do this..any suggestions? |

Did you install them correctly? I'll bet that you didn't get everything tight up there. Make sure that the nut at the top of the shaft is tightened all the way, and that you don't turn the shaft while you're tightening it.
If the shock is bad, send it back to KYB for a replacement. |

Oh yea, everything is peachy-keen on the installation portion. I didn't buy them directly from KYB themselves, but from one of their distros. Should I try to contact KYB themselves or the place from which they were sent from? Any idea on the price for a replacement? It would really be a downer to pay retail again for something that didn't last 1 full week. I'll contact them both.
Edit: Place I bought them from has a Lifetime Warranty. So it's taken care of. Thanks |

When I take the shock off my car, how can I test to see if it truly is defective?

see if its leaking at all, or while on the car bounce the side that is squeeking and see if it rebounds more than once, thats the usual indication of a bad strut. or you can just send it back..

I noticed you have a skunk2 camber kit. I'd be willing to bet that's your problem...mine squeaks like a bitch.

The bushings from the camber kit to the strut tower may have been tightened too much while the car was in the air and is keeping the rubber twisted. You might want to loosen the bolts to them while the car is on the ground and then retighten them.
