Okay, I want to lower my car a little bit to reduce my wheel gap and improve handling. From what I understand, it's a bad idea to just buy springs, so Im looking at getting some coilovers. I hear very good things about Tein, but they're so damn expensive. Are they THAT much better the competition, or are they kind of hyped-up? Also, if they arent, can someone suggest another good company/product? Thanks in advance.

Tein, JIC, Apex'i, H&R, all make good coilover kits. For a good TRUE coilover kit, you're going to pay a decent amount of money. This isn't a $300 Ground Control Coilover sleeve we're talking about here. If you want to just go with springs, that's fine, it's not bad to do. Just be prepared to replace your shocks down the road, or do it now.

I would go with Tein, I found them on ebay for only like $130 shipping included. Type in 92-00 Civic springs, or coilovers and you can come up with alot. Ground Control coilovers go for like $250w/shipping and all.
I just won my coilovers today on ebay. VIS 0-4inch coilovers. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...DME:B:EOAB:US:6 I need a 1.25 drop on the marker so I needed coilover. and I think VIS should make a decent coilover. However I dont know who provides the spring for their product. Overall they have a reputable name and thats why I went with them. $80w /shipping and tax. Not that bad. |

tein are really good suspension kits for the money but if ur looking for something else with decent performance u should go with tokico's r.a.k. coilovers. they are illumina struts with eibach springs rebadges as tokico. they are supposed to be realy good and allow for variable ride hieghts. tein is one of the best tho and tokico is not far behind

I really really love my Teins. They're extremely comfortable even at the level of stiffness I have them set at, and they handle really well. If you consider the price- about $1400 for a set- it's really not that bad. Add up the price of a set of Ground Control springs, some Koni Yellows, then the stupid adapters you have to buy to mount the GC collars on the Konis and you're already over $1000.
Add on the Honda-Tech mantra of "oh just revalve the Konis and you have the best setup in the world" and you'll have spent more than the Teins which are matched from the factory to begin with- plus you won't get threaded shock bodies, adjustable length or any of the other advantages that come with a true coilover setup. If you want a good value, the Tein Basic set at around $600 isn't bad at all. It just doesn't give you adjustable damping- but it IS properly matched (spring vs damper) from the factory. |

How much do you really wanna spend? I dug up alot on my searches for springs till i found mine. Plus, are you looking for high end brands or just a set thats decent and will hold up? Your gonna have to pay over $500.00 at a minimum to get really great setup. If you want a decent set probably a minimum of around $300.00 Buying suspension setups are tricky so look up every brand multiple times to know your not getting ripped off.

Personaly i won't buy sleeve coilovers , If you want coil overs buy the real deal other wise springs are the way to go. Also think about it do you really need coilovers? are you ever really gogin to adjust them? Personaly go with adjustable shocks and get a set of springs.
