Hey guys i drive a 2000 civic si and im planning on changing my suspension out. Right now i have stock shocks and struts and have some cheap aerospeed coilovers. Im definately putting some tokicos blues on but now im wondering if i should buy some better coilover or some skunk2 lowering springs.. PLease tell me which will give me a better ride quality??? springs or shocks? whats the pro's and cons of each one??? Besides with coilover being able to adjust the ride height??? Thnaks guys and ohh any recommendations for which coilover or springs i should get for my car would be great (B.T.W i dont wanna spend over 200 for springs or coilover either) Thanks

You will have better ride and handling by going with a traditional spring over a coilover sleeve like you have, or like the skunk2's. I have H&R sport springs...1.75" front, 1.5" rear drop...coupled with KYB AGX shocks. Ride quality is awesome, handles great.

Full Coilovers > Lowering Springs > Perch Coilovers

First off good shit on choosing Tokico shocks, but dont buy the "suspension kit" Tokico's springs are for base models... not specific models like coupe, 4 door etc...My drop looked like an inch drop before I changed them out.
Also skunk 2 makes a great camber kit, but springs are not of the best quality.. Ive heard of cracking and minor flaws you normally wouldnt see in springs. I highly recommend Eibach Sportlines, or Tien's. H & R is pretty good and a lil less in price as the other two I told you about. Hope this helps - |

well just a basic spring shock setup is going to give u the better ride quality, but if you want highe performance you should go with full coilovers... but since your on a budget go with the hp's from tokico n find a good spring you will be happy

definitely go with springs instead of coilovers. i had coilovers on my old civic and the ride quality blows, unless of course you spend over a grand on the full coilover set.
and to add another suspension question, how hard is it to install a camber kit? i already know how to install the springs and struts, but i'm not sure about the camber kit.

yeah the eibach sportlines should give you about a 2" drop. eibachs with the tokico shocks should work great for you, but you should think about adding a camber kit as well. it's not really mandatory but it's one of those things you should really do b/c if you don't your tires will wear unevenly, and you'll go through them much quicker.

Sportlines should be right around a 2" drop. If you want slammed, go with Neuspeed race springs 2.25" or more of a drop
