I didn't know what forum to put this in as it has only to do with tires, so I figured here is a good spot.
Winter - Performance Tires Anyway, it's time that I get some tires suitable for driving in the snow/ice. The AVSES100s aren't rated for it, so I need to find some good winter tires with decent performance and outstanding traction. So far I've looked at Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 w/ UNI-T, Blizzak LM-22s, and Pirelli W-210 snowsports. The Pirelli's have the best all around traction, but the WS-50s have, by far, the best snow traction. What are some of your opinions on these and any other tire you've had for winter driving? Summer - Performance Tires Now as for the summer tires. I have a set of 195/55r15 Yokohama AVS ES100s on here and I absolutely LOVE these tires. Best gripping summer performance tire I've ever bought. But at only 5 months old, the fronts are wearing quite rapidly, it doesn't help that I corner down offramps like there's no tomorrow with these, but when I went searching today I found yet another that I liked with better dry/wet traction. BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW2s KDW2 Performance Dry Traction 9.3 Wet Traction 8.7 Hydro Resistance 8.5 Snow Traction N/A Cornering Stability 9.0 Steering Response 9.0 Ride Comfort 8.0 Noise Comfort 6.8 Tread Wear 7.8 vs ES100 performance Dry Traction 8.6 Wet Traction 7.8 Hydro Resistance 7.8 Snow Traction N/A Cornering Stability 8.3 Steering Response 8.3 Ride Comfort 7.5 Noise Comfort 7.0 Tread Wear 6.6 The KDW2s are better in every way except Noise comfort, and I gotta tell you the ES100s are loud as shit at 72 on the highway. In your opinion should I wait for KDW2s until after the car has some actual performance to it? (ie the SC, clutch/flywheel) Again, what's the opinions upon these for those of you who've had the KDW2s? Or are there other tires I should be looking into? |

I don't look at ratings like that...I base my own opinions from driving on tires, and knowing people who have. I've had 2 sets of ES100s and loved them, but decided it was time to try a new tire...just to broaden my horizon. If I were you getting a summer tire, I'd get some Falken Azenis...I would have gotten them if they were made in the size I need.

Yeah... you're right. I do keep hearing all these great things about Azenis, but I keep forgetting about them when I'm researching things.
I think I'm gonna wear these ES100s down to nothing and then try either the Azenis or KDW2s depending on my budget standings when I finally decide. Because when I do, I'm getting a rim/tire package at the same time. |
