Hey everyone,
Although this is my first post, I am not a complete n00b. Well, I am new to THIS website. Anyway, I have a civic and I got a good deal on some Tokico Blues (HP) Shocks/Sruts. I read that Eibach coilovers will work with Tokico shocks and was wondering if this would be a good combo? 4 Tokico Shocks/Struts with 4 Eibach coilovers? If not, what coilovers would be best to grab? Thanks in advance. |

ok well to start off, u wouldnt be gettin 4hp struts, and 4 eibach coilovers. you would get 4 struts and 4 springs, not coilovers. i know that the hp's say dont go any more of a drop then like 1.5 inches, but i think dougboy has hp's with nuespeed springs and hes doing a 2inch drop. im sure that he will chime in here soon. as for the eibachs being good with the tokicos, i would assume so, tokico is good stuff, and tokico springs are rebadged eibach springs, so im gonna say they will work fine.

I didnt buy the package deal. I already have the struts and I was wondering if the Eibach coilovers would work with them? Can you not use coilovers with the Tokico HP's?

of course, some people drop 3 inches on stock shocks and cruise around for 50,000 miles, and other drop 1 inch and blow them after 5,000 miles, so YMMV.

I was just looking to tuck the fender just right even with the top of the tire, maybe just a tad lower. I believe that is around 1.5 inches.

if you bought hp struts, then you wont be able to use a coilover too, you use a spring. in hondas the spring goes over the strut, aka MacPherson. now if u want ride adjustability then you gotta go coilovers. in my opinion what ur looking at is a spring/strut suspension setup |

Murky never really specified what car this is for, but I'll try and clear up some confusion. A shock is a gas filled piston. A spring is a coiled piece of metal. Usually, but not always, the shock will go inside the spring to form a strut. A MacPherson strut is a specific kind of strut that eliminates the need for an upper control arm. 01+ Civics use Mac struts in the front and the regular kind in the back. 88-00 Civics use a double wishbone suspension with regular struts. A true coilover setup will replace the entire strut in 1 expensive package. A coilover "sleeve" setup allows use of a regular shock while still allowing heigh adjustability. This last thing is what Murky has.

a coilover sleeve is functionally no different from a regular spring, dude. dropping 1.5" on HPs with coilover sleeves would put the same stress on the shocks as dropping 1.5" on HPs with eibach sport springs. i've already warned him of the risk of slamming his car on the blues, but he's not gonna blow his shocks righ away with a 1.5" drop.
