Hey guys, I just found a deal I couldn't pass up on rims. Some local guy was selling some 14" (yeah i know they're small... get over it) Motegi MR12's, and I got 'em for $215 with locking lugs and everything installed. So, now I am looking to lower my car quite a bit, since it's lookin like a semi-truck right now. I was looking into the tokico hp spring/shock combo, but I'm still looking. Any opinions? Another thing I was wondering is if I get coilovers or lowering springs will I definitely need to get different shocks to go with?

Thanks in advance... (pics of the new rims will be up soon)

Aight, here are the pics of the rims... couldn't get a straight shot b/c there were cars parked next to me, but it's the best I could do... I think they look sweet for 200 bucks. Now, what should I do about lowering it?

I'd get springs and shocks at the same time...it will save on later, because shortly down the road you will need to replace the shocks anyways. I have H&R sport springs and KYB AGX shocks...love the combo.

yeah, i was planning on getting them at the same time, but i didn't know how hard it would be to install them. I heard that if you get a spring/shock combo already together then you wouldn't need a tool to compress the springs to get them off... but I may be wrong. Were they hard to put on?

You won't need the spring compressor to put the shorter lowering springs onto new shocks. If you were reusing your OEM shocks, you'd need the compressor to remove the old springs. It's a pretty easy install.

he'll need to use part of the old shocks to be used on top of the new shocks, so he'll need to use a spring compressor to take the old combo apart. at least i had to.

Yeah, I've heard good review on the h&r springs, and they're not too expensive. I was thinking kyb gr-2 shocks, which also aren't too bad, and reviews looked decent. I'm thinking it might take me 4-6 hrs to completely change out all of the suspension stuff. Dub, how long have you had ur setup?

Geez...I've had the springs forever...probably 5 years. I've had the shocks for probably 2.5 years or so.

Are you crazy??? Not using your bumpstops can blow your shocks very easily.
