could anyone give me a list of tools i'm gonna need to swap out my springs in my eg hatch, just want to be prepared when i start tomorrow. I have blues in there already i'm just changing the springs to a less aggressive drop. I know about the bitch bolt, and i have plenty of anti seize and pb blaster. BTW i 'm not using air tools.

your going to need 14mm socket and wrench 17mm socket. your also going to need a spring compressor if you current springs were compressed on the install. I never use air tools either if it starts giving you a hard time, heat is the best way to lossen the bitch bolt up. Your also goign to need a razor to cut your bump stop.

these are the things i have to do this. i'll tell you why and which are optional.

1) liquid wrench you should have been spraying all the bolts you plan to be working on a week prior. If you think about it, the bolts that are at the pivot points of your suspension carry the entire weight and forces of your car, loaded, unloaded, bumps etc. If you dont do this you will almost all the time shear off a bolt. Case steel bolts are tons of fun to drill out. It took me 13 hours once. I learned my lesson the hard way.

2) a blow torch, head up the nuts that are tach welded to the other end of the bolt you will be removing, this losens up the threads and makes it easier to unbolt them with out shearing them off.

3) 14, 17 and possibly a 19mm socket and wrench

4) spring compressor two clamp like things that hook onto each end of the spring and you wrench them closed to compress the springs.

5) jack, jackstands

6) possibly a breaker bar

I read all about your 13 hour ordeal, that must have really sucked. I haven't been sraying the bolts, i plan on getting the car up at all 4 corners tonight and spraying the shit out of everything and starting work on it tomorrow. The skunk 2 springs and tokico blues were put on the car no more than 3 months ago so i hope everything will come apart a little easier than say stock stuff thats been on there for like ten years.

the springs went in really easily, didn't even need the spring compressor, car rides so much better. The skunk 2 springs that were in there were cut to make them even lower, the car is not slammed anymore but the improvement in ride and the more clearance was definetly worth it, just need to get an alinement now.
