I've never ever done this forum thing... so I'll give it a try.
I have a 01 Civic LX manual... suspension is finally acting up... bumpy roads are annoyingly rough and loud. I have asked around for opinions on what is the best, inexpensive suspension for my car. So far I have gotten Koni as the choice to go with...I want a smooth ride, smoother than when I drove it out the dealership 5yrs ago... Any other opinions? Also... my car seems to have lost power... it runs 3000rpm at 70mph... is that normal? My girl also has a 01 Civic LX, but her's is automatic... it runs 3000rpm at about 80mph.... a lot smoother than mine. I do have a weak battery and poor suspension, are these significant factors? Anyone's advice, greatly appreciated. |

3000rpm at 70 sounds right. Her gear ratios in the automatic are different than in your manual. You won't have much power around the 3000rpm mark due to low displacement.
Konis will make the ride more rough. How many miles are on your car? If you're not interested in performance or lowering, just get some OEM replacement type shocks.

yeah konis are a great shock, I have their "red" shocks on my car and the ride is real nice, although it is a bit stiffer than stock. Like said above if you want it smooth then OEM is your best bet. And yes, my car is a 98 ex 5spd and it runs 3k rpm at ~70mph. Pretty normal for a 4cyl.
