first of all. dont let an idiot help.
when changing the front springs, watch the cv axel, theyll come out easilly. this is a no brainer for most, but it goes along with the dont let an idiot help. in the rear i ran into THIS problem, dont know if anyone else has experianced it or not but the bolt holding the strut to the lower control arm when turned, broke. the nut was welded to the lower control arm and the rest of the bolt refussed to come out. thus, i had to get a 'new' lower control arm from a junkyard for about 50d. my advice, take the whole arm off with the strut if youre only changing the springs. save the headache for when you actually change the struts. another thing, my stock struts were kinda rusted where you stick the allen wrench, the allen wrench only stripped it, but a star wrench did the job fine. yes, overall, installing the springs were cake, and i imagine next time around it will run alot smoother. but i thought id share a few of the problems i ran into.

OMG! the bitch bolt!
Same thing happened to me love, took me 13 hours to get the bolt out. (i'll put pictures up soon) Well needless to say last night i had to change a strut (hit a big ole bump) well i broke out the blow torch this time.. heated up the nut thats welded on the one side to a nice cherry red.. started working the bolt back and forth.. a quick shot of liquid wrench and bam right out baby! remember that next time.. i know i will saved me a shit load of work (ps) watch your break lines though lol) |
