Okay, so apparently this city that I have recently moved to has a REALLY bad issue with car theives, PARTICULARLY ones who like to steal hondas. Four kids that I go to school with have had their civics (2 of them with nice alarms) jacked and chopped in the past month. Hell, yesterday when I was going into work, this cop was checking my car out and commented on how he was surprised that my car hadnt been stolen yet. Sooo, I know that if a theif wants my shit bad enough, he is going to get it, end of story. But what is the best route I can go down as far as security systems are concerned? And by the best, I mean "money-is-not-an-issue" best, for the most part. Clifford, Viper, etc...? What exact models are the most effective? What features should I look for? I need to get this shit on there as soon as possible; if anyone can give me some good suggestions today, I WILL have it in the mail tomorrow, for real... ALL INPUT WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!! Thanks in advance guys...
Oh, on a side note... I installed my Tokico Illumina R coilovers today and theyre fuckin sweet! Time for a camber kit... That is all.

well, take it from me, I work with a hispanic kid, that used to help steal cars when he was younger, but dont do it anymore. and he tells me different ways that can provent your car from being jacked. oh I watched him break into a friends car w/o leaving a scratch because the kid locked his keys in the car with the power on. Anyway, basically he said alarms are a joke, unless it has one of those pager systems with it. those are decent. you can also get like kill switches installed, to help detur a theif.

as stated before these are only a deterrant...but I have a Viper 791vx paging alarm.
I say Viper of cliffored same same.. Just dont get anything older than the 791 model, POS if you do. I havent had any issues with mine, and the remote is much stronger than the old ones. They run roughly.... $300 -400 installed. They also come with the trunk sensor which is nice since you dont have to pay $30 to get an extra sensor.I say Viper or Clifford though. BTW- if they get in your car and start it without the key. As soon as they hit the brake or gas, the car shuts down and wont start up until the key is inserted.. Other than alarms, Theres the autolock, and lo-jack.. Autolock $30 locks clutch/or brake Lo-jack- Fuel cutoff $150 |

Add on siren to your alarm, with a built in battery. Hide it in the fender or somewhere descreet underneath the hood. $120-$150
Fuel Cutoff switch- $50 ( its a bitch if a part goes bad, and you get stuck somewhere, I dont really recommend it. But it is an option.) Relocating your hood release, I'd like to learn how to do this myself. PM me any DIY's if anyone knows of any. Motorola Home Security- $250 Wireless camera, and runs by signal from your computer. 1 club on the steering wheel, another between your tranny and ebrake =a waist of time and a pain in the ass for a thief lol Removable steering wheel, Though you must kiss your airbag goodbye. GPS- $500-$600 and monthly fees.. Electrical kill switch- $5 in parts, easy to do. is that enough for you! ![]() |

Just to re-itterate since ive been doing 12 volt for a long while now... (too long) Honestly, it doesnt matter if you spend a 100 dollars or 10,000 dollars on an alarm system with or without a pager. Plain and simple, all an alarm does is keep the honest man honest. If they want your car bad enough they will get it. either at night, at work, at the mall, damn they even wait for you to warm them up now and take them from a streetlight in some cities.
Most alarms are convienence factors. you would be better to change some habitsand be more aware of things around you than relying a simple electronic device to keep your car safe. Unfortunately the insurance companies have us by the ass. cause your either gonna have to pay someone to find, fix, or replace your stolen car, or find cash, fix or replace your empty wallet from the insurance company. Thieves are lazy cowards with no ambition in life other than to just get by. I despise there tactics and methods of self destruction and wongful doing to others who may work hard to get things they deserve. there are many things you can do, just a matter of time whether or not you become part of the statistics. Words of advice: If theres no demand for stolen property or goods, theres is no market place. |

Stick with DEI alarms, I've heard Alpine makes a good unit but I have no personal experience with them. People are right alarms are mainly deterrent only. So the install is very important. Make sure your horn and wires to it, can not be reached from underneath your car. Have the brain mounted on the inside of your steering column where it's hardest to reach and view. A perimeter sensor is a great idea, but tune it right so it doesn't go off every time someone walks by. Get a back up battery and an extra horn. I've always mounted a mini horn underneath my dash on the passenger side. That just keeps em busy a little longer trying to disable your alarm. Plus I figure if they want my car they can go deaf getting it.
